Where did July go!? We’re into the eighth month of the year already! I get excited about August as not only is it my birthday but we only have 27 more days until Spring begins! Spring is a lovely time of year as it brings slightly warmer days, baby animals running around the farms and a change of menu – no more slow cooking or stew recipes but more poaching, grilling and salad recipes.
Above are some red and yellow capsicums that I picked up at the local fruit and veggie store. Time to turn them into a roasted peperonata (recipe coming soon).
In My Kitchen . . .

. . . is Kojiro making sure my photos are styled correctly – he makes me laugh as it was a little unexpected, even though I knew he was around me. The camera was set up perfectly and couldn’t have been timed any better! He just loves helping with everything he can – making the bed, warning me the microwave is finished, washing clothes and cleaning the shower!
In My Kitchen . . .

. . . is my new favourite obsession – Raspberry & coconut twist yoghurt by Gippsland Dairy. I think I could eat this by the tub full! The best bit about this, apart fro the tart raspberry with the creamy yoghurt, is the flakes of coconut throughout – yumm!
In My Kitchen . . .

. . . is parpadelle, made for Woolworths as part of their Gold range. Thought I’d give it a try to compare against all other parpadelle pasta on the supermarket shelves. And I have to say, this give the expensive pasta brands a run for their money.
In My Kitchen . . .

. . . is Bundaberg raw sugar, only available at Coles supermarkets (after noticing it wasn’t on the shelves in Woolworths). I found out that this is actually unrefined raw sugar, which I never knew – happy days!
In My Kitchen . . .

. . . is a fragrant bunch of fresh basil, picked up from the Queen Victoria Markets. Is there anything better in the world than the refreshing aroma of fresh basil!? It not only fills the kitchen but your nose too – it keeps filling my tastebuds for hours!
And the last goodies In My Kitchen . . .

. . . are of course, cookbooks! This River Cottage Fruit cookbook was the last one at a bookstore that was closing down – I picked it up for $6 (crazy right!)

And this Oz Harvest cookbook I picked up when I went to the Melbourne Good Food & Wine Show back in June. I bought it as I wanted something that Matt Moran could sign at the meet & greet they had. There’s some amazing recipe in there from 50 of Australia’s chefs 🙂
Oh and just in case you missed it, here’s the Banana bread bake-off round-up of all the beautiful recipes in my search for that perfect slice of banana bread #bananabreadbakeoff. Thank you to all the wonderful foodies who shared their delicious recipes at my party. If you’d like to share your banana bread recipe all you need to do is click on this link above and leave a comment in the comments section with the link to your recipe.
And please try my 30 minute one-pot creamy smoked salmon penne – throw everything in one pot and allow the magic to happen. Dinner is on the table in under 30 minutes. It doesn’t get any better than that for a mid-week dinner the whole family will love!
In my Kitchen is a kitchen party usually hosted by Maureen from Orgasmic Chef but she’s taking a couple of months off due to back surgery but we’re still sharing the goodies from our kitchen. Hope to see you soon x
