Where did November disappear to? One minute we were enjoying ourselves at the Melbourne Cup and the next thing I know it’s time to put the Christmas tree up (which I’m yet to do as Kojiro will surely knock it over!) But I’m looking forward to preparing a lovely early Christmas lunch feast for our family this weekend. I might even try my hand at baking some spelt biscuits. As most of you may know, I’m not a dessert queen so I may need all your love sent my way for them to work out 🙂 What do you all have planned for Christmas? We hope you have a beautiful time with all your loved ones.
Pictured above are the beautiful roses from our Melbourne Cup day. Our host Helen had them as the centrepiece. Her and her husband always put on lovely food and make race day an enjoyable, fun and relaxing day.
In my Kitchen . . .

. . . are these stunning red roses from my loving husband – just because. They were such a lovely surprise & they made my day smile even more x Even Kojiro loved them!
In my Kitchen . . .

. . . are my new salt & pepper mill set, which I truly adore. They’re Maxwell Williams acacia wood 40cm grinders. The pepper mill has a steel grinder which makes grinding peppercorns a breeze, while the salt mill has the ceramic mechanism to not corrode the steel. I needed some new ones after I dropped and smashed two, not one, but two sets of Ikea salt and pepper glass mills – No more glass for Nicole!
In my Kitchen . . .

. . . is our favourite pasta. We just love penne that’s tiny and smooth. I find this brand cooks perfectly every time. I find it really difficult to find smooth penne in the supermarket so whenever I see this penne, I grab a few bags.

. . . are some new healthy chip options I found at Coles. These hommus and lentils chips by Wholesome Food Company, super tasty. I love them with my avocado dip, cheeses or added as an extra crunch to my curries if I’ve run out of poppadums.
In my Kitchen . . .

. . . is Kojiro helping me with my food photography. He’s such a good little helper.
And last In my Kitchen, but definitely not least,

. . . are lemons my nanna didn’t need. She got them from her brother’s tree. I’m not sure what the speckles on the lemons mean which is why I juiced them. I’ve frozen the juice to make something with at a later time. I’m a bit disappointed I couldn’t zest them also. To all my veggie and fruit gurus out there, do you know what the speckles on the lemons mean?
Oh, and in case you missed them, I made meatballs in subs and with spaghetti, for a quick mid-week dinner. A date night with my husband to the Melbourne Noodle Night Markets was foodie heaven. Thanks for joining me on my kitchen tour, love having you here.
In my Kitchen is a look at some beautiful kitchens from all around the world. We get to see, and sometimes drool, over the goodies everyone has. Every kitchen I sneak a peek into, I find at least item I must find to try or make for myself. It’s so much fun to catch up with everyone every month and escape the hectic pace we live for a couple of hours every day to enjoy a laugh over a cuppa. Celia at Fig Jam & Lime Cordial hosts this wonderful party – we love finding new inspiration from all over the world. Come join us by the 10th of every month – we’d love to see the goodies in your kitchen too!

I’m also keen to know what the speckles on the lemons are. But isn’t it great having the juice in your freezer.

Lemons are so expensive Christine, so having lemon juice on hand at anytime is great. I just put the juice in ice cube trays, perfect portion sizes. Hopefully someone can help us with the speckly lemons 🙂 Have a wonderful Christmas & New Year. See you in 2016 for #IMK x

Such beautiful flowers, lucky you! What a beautiful salt and pepper grinder set, hopefully these won’t break so easily. And what wonderful lemons, even if you couldn’t zest them.
