Itโs that time again for In my Kitchen โ already! Is the year flying by or is it just me! August brings the end of Winter (hopefully) and my birthday! During the past couple of months Iโve been experimenting with new recipes,ย some of which hadnโt gone as planned but with the down falls comes more experimenting and testing. Stay tuned for some delicious dishes coming your way.
Every month, foodies from around the world share all the goodies in and around their kitchens. Celia at Fig Jam & Lime Cordial hosts this wonderful party – we love finding new inspiration from all over theย world. Come and join us by the 10th of everyย month โ weโd love to see the goodies in your kitchen!
In my Kitchen (above) is more cookbooks! I found Rick Steinโs Seafood Odyssey, Spices and Asian hot & spicy at op-shops for some ridiculous price! Then while lunching with my husband one day, we popped into a local book store where we saw these two cookbooks – Foodies of the World and Falling Cloudberries. I knew I had to have them as theyโd be the perfect addition to my cookbook collection ๐ Still going through them but thereโs some great inspiration in them so far!
In my Kitchen is . . .
. . . Otway Pork. This Boneless Scotch Roast with Rind, for Crackling, only had salt, pepper and olive oil rubbed all over, with extra salt on the skin for that extra crispy crackling. This was the best pork Iโve ever tasted! Otway Pork Scotch roast will definitely be on the menu again.
In my Lounge room, which is just off the kitchen is . . .
. . . my sous chef / co-writer for Miss Food Fairyย / guard cat, Kojiro. At the time of this photo he was 4 months old. He is full of life & energy and brings lots of laughter to our home. If my husband or I donโt pay him attention, as weโre on our laptops working, he jumps on our keyboards to get our attention!ย His blue eyes get me every time! How can I say no to those ๐
In my Kitchen is . . .
. . . Jamie Oliverโs pork Cumberland sausages. There are no preservatives added or any funny numbers we donโt know and they taste amazing! No going back to just any old sausages now. Sure theyโre a little more expensive than most sausages but for something thatโs all natural ingredients with no nasties, theyโre always on my shopping list now –ย they’re available atย Woolworths supermarkets. Evenย the butcher at one of the Woolies stores said ‘they were his second favourite pork sausage!’
And last but not least In my Kitchen are . . .
. . . new tea towels. I love adding colour to my kitchen and they were just too soft to pass up.
Oh, and in case you missed it and are looking for dinner inspiration tonight, why donโt you try my healthy, and kid friendly, leftover roast chicken with pumpkin curry, which was devoured in my kitchen this month.
