Jack Rabbit at Home

For my birthday last month, my husband asked me what I’d like for dinner? Due to Stage 3 restrictions in regional Victoria, there’s not too many restaurants or pubs are open and I didn’t really feel like take away. Should we see if any wineries in the Bellarine area were offering take away? Great idea, let’s support local.

To our amazement, during this round of lockdowns, more wineries started opening their doors for take away meals, with their chef-cooked restaurant quality food which you finish at home! Such an awesome idea and one that truly speaks volumes in this current climate.

Jack Rabbit Vineyard in Drysdale, has views that look across the bay to Geelong, the You Yangs and Melbourne. Late last Spring (2019) we ventured there on a beautiful day, where we sat outside, enjoyed the view, the great service, the delicious food, sparkling bubbles and wonderful company. Looking forward to taking all our friends down there for a truly amazing experience – when we can of course!

Jack Rabbit at Home is chef made food, cooked in your home. You place your order, organise a time to pick up your dish from their sister winery, Leura Park Estate, bring it home and cook it as per cooking instructions given. And oh my goodness! Did we pick the most amazing dinner to have?

Bellarine beef wellington with roasted Mediterranean vegetables and roast chat potatoes – out of this world!

Oh and to top it all off, a wonderful High Cheese, supplied by Flying Brick Cider Co. was thoroughly enjoyed – some of the most amazing local cheeses in one amazing take home pack! It’s definitely worth a try when you come to Geelong. But if you’re in the Geelong Bellarine area, I suggest you get amongst it and order this High Cheese platter. And definitely try the Stracciatella with caramelised Honey – it’s TO DIE FOR! I think I could have eaten a whole bucket of the Stracciatella in one sitting! Get in my belly! I’m drooling just thinking about it.

I must say a big thank you to my husband for such a wonderful birthday dinner – he cooked & prepared it all. And another big thank you goes out to the whole team at Jack Rabbit – what an amazing dinner!

Another wonderful food experience while in lockdown.

My sister lives in Portarlington and when our Stage 4 Lockdown ends and restaurants are back in operation, we intend to visit for lunch. Very much looking forward to it now!
