Phew, I just made it! These past couple of weeks have been crazy amazing! Our Grand Prix party went off without a hitch, the food was amazing, the drinks were a plenty and friends & family made the days a lot more fun. Last week was the first week of school holidays in Melbourne, our two nephews came to stay for the week while my sister & bro-in-law worked. I praise all working parents as maintaining a house, looking after the kids, preparing meals is a full time job in itself! I love our nephews – they’re nine and five – to bits and I’m happy they went home as they missed mum & dad but gee do I miss them! Time has just flown by. It’s time to give some TLC to Miss Food Fairy.
Thanks for joining me for In my Kitchen. I love having you here. If you’d love to share the goodies in your kitchen with us, we’d to love to have you join – no matter where you are in the world. Remember my visit to the new Kitchen Warehouse store in Preston, Victoria in February, well I bought a new Scanpan sauté pan. I’m usually a non-stick kinda girl but decided to try a full stainless steel pan to see what they’re like. I enjoying cooking in it and it’s great it can go in the oven up to 200° Celsius, but I’m not sure if I’ll swap all my saucepans at this point in time.
A big congratulations to Aishath from Nattulicious, who shared her fried rice with fried fish dish and won the Kitchen Warehouse $50 voucher with the most votes. Thank you to everyone who entered & I’m sorry there could only be one winner as all the rice dishes look absolutely delicious!
Kojiro needed a new water bowl. I found this Jamie Oliver recycled glass bowl on special at Woolworths last month. Kojiro loves it!
This is my favourite apple juice. It’s made in Tasmania. No added anything, except Vitamin C. Perfect start to the day – after my coffee of course 😉 I buy this from the fridge section in Woolworths.
These are all the sauces that were needed for our GP party. They’re always a must in my pantry to suit everyone’s tastebuds. The sweet chilli sauce is the best I’ve ever had from a bottle! It’s as good as the fish cake dipping sauce in Thailand.
The sauces I used for my slow cooked Bulgogi spicy pulled pork. I served this on the Sunday for our GP party and it was a big hit with everyone, they just loved it! There was just the right amount of spice in the pork that when put in small dinner rolls with a Kewpie mayonnaise coleslaw, there was still a kick of spice. The great thing about this Korean Bulgogi sauce was it had no MSG in it. Do you know how hard it is to find sauces without MSG?!
I also made a slow cooked BBQ pulled pork for the GP party on Saturday. The BBQ marinade was made from scratch.
Here are a few of my favourite cars from the GP. (from top to bottom) Photos 1, 2 & 3 are some of my favourite classic cars. The black car reminds me of Penelope Pitstop’s car, except hers was pink. Photo 4 is of some of the Australian GT’s – some of the world’s most exotic car brands including Ferrari, Bentley, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, Lamborghini and McLaren. This is the largest field of Level 1 race cars, apart from the F1’s. Photos 5 & 6 are a couple of my favourite Ferraris – the red Ferrari is like the one Magnum PI drove and the silver Ferrari is a 308 GTB. I love old school cars, they sound and look fantastic! What’s you’re favourite car? The photo at the start of this post is of one of the F1’s broken down right out front of our place. It was so exciting! I felt sorry for him though as he couldn’t race any further. Check out my Instagram account for a few more GP photos.
Love the sound of the GP party, but with that view how could you not! Love all the sauces too – sounds a bit like the vibe of a US Super Bowl party with lots of spicy finger food 🙂

It’s very similar to the Super Bowl parties, just without the barbecue. We are very spoilt with the beautiful view we have. Lovely having you here for #IMK Beck x

Nicole, I read an “alert” recently that advised non-stick pans emit toxic fumes when heated over a certain point. (I forget the exact temperature, sorry.) Yay for trying out stainless steel! I’ve gravitated toward those, too, despite my “fear of sticking” — so far, so good. Go for the Maillard effect and go with your IMK instincts!
Also admired your “apple juice after caffeine” routine (I do the same thing with citrus juices after consuming my fair share of java every morning) AND your sauce stash. (Will be on the lookout for Bolgogi.) Were those spectacular cars outside your kitchen window? Oh my goodness, I want to drive one!!! 🙂

I’ll stick with the stainless steel sauce pan for a while – I cooked a baked rice & chicken dish last night and it went really well. From stovetop to oven with no problems and no sticking! The Australian Grand Prix is right outside our place every year – very spilt with the amazing view we have 🙂 I would love to drive every single car too 😉 Lovely seeing you for #IMK Kim xx

Look at all those sauces. I still haven’t tried sriracha yet. I love my stainless steel scanpan. So handy that it can go straight into the oven from the stovetop. Love all those cars lucky you being able to see them Yes I like the Penelope pitstop car too. See u next month.

Oh Sherry, you must give Sriracha a try. My hubby has it on his meat pies, it’s not just for Asian food. We also love adding it to our fried rice 🙂 Love having you here for #IMK xx

I’m also a non-stick kinda girl. Enjoy your Scanpan – didn’t know it can go inside oven. Have been stocking up on Korean and Japanese stuff myself. Love your hot pepper paste. Happy cooking Nicole.x

I love that the Scanlan can go in the oven. I tried it with my non-stick and it’s buckled now which is why I got a new pan. I always have these sauces on hand but changed brands to try something new. Love having you here for #IMK Aida xx

Your sauce collection is awesome! I like that you have the Los Angeles version of Sriracha, which is very popular throughout the US.

This is the one & only Sriracha that should ever be in anyone’s pantry! If there’s other sauces that claim to be the original Sriracha but have different coloured lids, you just wasted money. Love having you here for #IMK Mae xx

Lots of good stuff happening in your kitchen! I love my stainless steel RenaWare saucepans; both the vintage ones, which were my mothers and are over 50 years old, as well as the new ones, which are superb! Cheers.
