In my Kitchen May 2016

How cold has it been for the start of autumn!? Cold nights and fresher mornings make it hard to get out of bed, staying under the covers until the heater kicks in and warms up the place. These vitamins (above) are very prominent on my kitchen bench right now, especially with flu season in full swing, already! For the past six days, these have helped me get through the sneezing, sniffling and coughing. Today is the first day I’ve enough strength to get out of bed and off the couch, since last Friday, which is so unlike me! I’m not one for doctors so stocking up on vitamins for the term of my flu works wonders. I then continue taking one a day to keep the sniffles at bay. What are your go to vitamins or remedies when you’re feeling shocking?

In My Kitchen . . .

. . . is my homemade chicken noodle soup with spinach. This is continually on hand when I don’t have any energy to cook. The chicken stock is made from scratch and the love that goes into it, makes me feel better after one spoonful – recipe coming soon.

In My Kitchen . . .

. . . is the last little capsicums from my brother-in-laws veggie patch, which I used with beef mince to make a pasty filling. I’m still playing with the recipe – stay tuned.

In My Kitchen . . .

. . . is the goodies from my IKEA trip (yes another one!) As IKEA is so close, about 15 minute drive, I go there to get inspiration and find props. I found some moulds, which I want to use making a coconut cream sugar-free dessert. I also love my new round, silver serving platter and tea towels – they look great in some of my recipes.

. . . are these new second hand cookbooks. They’re new to my collection but found at an op-shop for $5 each! Ezard is Contemporary Australian cuisine and this cookbook shows off the amazing recipes Teage Ezard created at his restaurant in Melbourne, Ezard’s at Adelphi. Secret Destinations – Asian Spa Cuisine by Susie Donald and Edmond Ho is all about amazing food & travel tips around 20 Asian destinations. I just had to have them!

In My Kitchen . . .

. . . is of course, Kojiro. He had his 1^st birthday in March and he weighs a whopping 5.6kgs! He just loves the fridge, if the shelf is free he’ll hop right in and just ‘chill out’. We have to be careful not to close the door on him! And the Kojiro just loves helping me with photos – these are onions from my brother-in-laws veggie patch. Kojiro always gets into my food photos!

Oh and just in case you missed my recipes for vegetable lasagne with cauliflower puree and spinach pesto and mini bacon and egg frittata, here they are for you to enjoy 🙂
